«Spanish flutist, Rocío Bolaños del Pozo, is passionate about orchestral and chamber music. Her passion and dedication to connect with and learn from other musicians has led her to perform in different festivals, carrying out her musical activity in Europe.»

She began her studies with Prof. María Dolores Morales in Jaén (Spain), finishing her professional studies with the highest qualifications.

In 2015, she moved to Córdoba (Spain) to study with Prof. Saleta Suárez at the «CSM - Rafael Orozco», finishing her studies with Cum laude.

In 2016, Rocío is accepted at the «Barenboim - Said Foundation» where she combines her bachelor studies, working alongside Juan Ronda and Toni Hervás (Flute and piccolo soloist of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla) and other international soloists.

In 2017, Rocío won an exchange scholarship to study with Aldo Baerten (Principal flute at Antwerp Symphony Orchestra) for one year.

In 2019, she moved to the Netherlands where she recently completed her master studies in flute and piccolo under the guidance of Juliette Hurel (Principal Flute at Rotterdams Philharmonichs Orkest), Julie Moulin (Flute at Royal Concertgebouw Orkest) and Wim Steinmann (Former piccolo at Rotterdams Philharmonichs Orkest).

She has been part of the SHMF|Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival (Germany), JONDE|Joven Orquesta Nacional de España (Spain), NJO|Nederlandse Jugend Orkest (The Netherlands) or Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (Austria), among others.

Passionate about orchestra playing, she collaborates as a co-principal flute with orchestras such as Rotterdams Philharmonichs Orkest, Dutch National Ballet|Het National Orkest, Dutch National Opera, OCNE|Orquesta y Coro Nacionales de España, Orquesta y Coro de Radio Televisión Española, Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Orquesta de Córdoba, Orquesta Filarmónica de Granada, among others.

Her orchestral activity has led her to perform alongside renowned soloists such as Steven Isserlis, Veronika Eberle, Javier Perianes or Amihai Grosz under the direction of prestigious conductors such as Christoph Eschenbach, Omer Meir Wellber, Krysztof Urbanski, Alexandre Bloch or Pablo Heras-Casado on some of the most important European stages such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam or the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, among others

In addition, in 2018, she was flute|piccolo academist of Orquesta Ciudad de Granada and since 2021, she belongs to the list of instrumentalists of the Orquesta Simfònica de las Illes Balears.

As a soloist, she has performed the «Concerto for Flute and Orchestra in D Major by Carl Reinecke» with the Orquesta de Córdoba, the «Concerto in D minor by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach» with the Orquesta Joven de Córdoba and the «Brandenburg Concerto no. 4 by Johann Sebastian Bach» with the Camerata Capricho Español.

Rocío has won some national and international prizes such as the «XIX Ciclo de Jóvenes Intérpretes» in the Individual and Chamber Music category in Córdoba (Spain) or the most recent prize at the «Prix d'Harmonie Competition» in the Netherlands, among others.

As a teacher, Rocío has been flute teacher in some masterclasses around Spain, The Netherlands, Central America and South America.

In 2022, she participated as a flute teacher in the Project «Red de Orquestas y Coros de Panamá» in Panama (Central America).

In 2023, she collaborated as a flute teacher with the «Iberoacademy Foundation» in Colombia (South America) through the exchange agreements of the JONDE|Joven Orquesta Nacional de España.

Currently, she combines her orchestral activity with chamber music and teaching.
